After a very disappointing season last year, I believe Manchester United have the capability to finish inside the top four once again and here's why..
Angel Di Maria
The Argentina international has only made 11 appearances in the Barclays Premier League, already scoring 3 goals and 6 assists.Despite not being in the Premier League for a long period of time, Angel Di Maria is one of the best players in the league.
Di Maria is capable of opening up any defense in the world, as shown previously during his spell at Real Madrid. The Premier League has been warned, and clubs are going to have a difficult time coping with both the Argentine and the attacking players around him that he will provide for.
Louis van Gaal
Completely reworking a top-flight side to fit his particular style of football was never going to be easy for van Gaal, but now with the season well underway, he is displaying signs that his work in progress is coming along quite nicely. United fans are slowly starting to see why the club placed so much faith in the experienced Dutchman as they have won their last 4 games and have climbed all the way up to fourth in the table. A win against Southampton on Monday would move them up to 3rd place.
The manager has plenty of talent at his disposal and he is starting to get a firm grip of who his best starting XI are and where they are best positioned. As the players continue to learn the "van Gaal system", I believe their results can only get more consistent as the players grow a better understanding of what their boss wants.
Slow Start is Over
There were concerns after three games this season as United dropped valuable points against the likes of Swansea City, Sunderland and Burnley (none of these teams will be challenging for the title this season). I think that a lot of United fans thought that this season will be a repeat of the last season. With a string of good results, United look to be back to their winning ways and beyond there slow start to the season, but with a busy December coming up, we will soon find out how good United really is.
Wayne Rooney
With 5 goals and 2 assists in 10 games, the United Captain is in the best form of his career. He may have his critics but he is starting to score goals again, and not just consolation goals, important, game winning goals.
He adds something to the team that no other player does. His desire and drive. Rooney is one of the hardest working players in the United squad. You'll see him closing down the keeper from 40 yards out and you can often even see him tracking back and making important tackles in his own half of the pitch, pretty impressive for a striker.
There is no doubting Rooney's ability or importance in the United team, and now that he is firmly in the right mindset, I believe he can lead his team to greatness under Louis van Gaal.
David de Gea
At only age 24, de Gea wont reach his peak for another 5-9 years. Despite this, David de Gea is in the form of his life and has undoubtedly been United's most consistent performer over the past 18 months. The United No. 1 has improved his all-round game vastly and (in my opinion) has developed into one of the best keepers in the world.
In the past international break, de Gea started for Spain in one of their qualifying games (Euro Cup 2016) which gave him a great confidence boost as you can see in the way he has played lately. David de Gea has already saved United several points this season with his amazing goalkeeping ability. I believe it is possible for him to become the world's best goalkeeper in the and I believe he will play a major role in where United finish in the table this season. P.S. Manchester United NEED to resign him as soon as possible, he's going to be something special one day!
